Foreign Investors Buy Korean Shares for 8 Straight Months

Foreign investors kept buying Korean stocks for eight straight months, marking the longest buying streak in seven years.

According to the Korea Exchange, foreigners posted a monthly net buying for eight consecutive months since February, purchasing a total of 12-point-87 trillion won worth of stocks in the main bourse of the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI).

Overseas investors bought over four trillion won in July alone when central banks of the major countries adopted quantitative easing measures following Britain's decision to leave the European Union.

The buying streak is the longest since 2009 when foreigners purchased a total of 33-point-13 trillion won worth of Korean stocks for eleven straight months between March 2009 and January 2010 on signs of a global economic recovery.
