87 Hanjin Ships Remain out of Operation

Eighty-seven ships among Hanjin Shipping's fleet are known to be currently standing idle, unable to enter or leave ports, after the firm filed for court receivership last week.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said that the operations of 87 Hanjin vessels were halted as of 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Of them, three are under provisional seizure due to delayed charter payments and 84 are banned from entering or leaving ports for overdue service fees.

Seventy-one are container ships while 16 are bulk carriers transporting grains and raw materials.

The three seized vessels, all container ships, are grounded in Singapore, and Shanghai and Shenzhen of China.
