Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho says the government will make all-out efforts to cope with logistics disruptions after Hanjin Shipping sought court receivership last week.
The minister said on Wednesday during a meeting with chiefs of related ministries that the government had prepared to carry out the corporate restructuring plan, but as the top economic policy-maker, he feels responsible for causing confusion and concerns in spite of the preparations.
He said that the related ministries will unite all their efforts to resolve all the problems.
Yoo said that container ships of Hanjin Shipping will likely be allowed to enter and unload their cargo at the terminal at the Port of Long Beach in the U.S. this week. The minister also said that the government will mobilize alternative vessels on routes to North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.
