The United States has decided to impose 64-point-68 percent of antidumping and countervailing duties on steel product imports from South Korea.

The U.S. International Trade Commission(USITC) said on Friday in a statement that it has endorsed antidumping and countervailing duties on cold-rolled steel flat products imported from Brazil, India, South Korea, and Britain.

According to the U.S. Commerce Department, South Korea’s POSCO and POSCO Daewoo were slapped with an antidumping duty of six-point-32 percent and countervailing duty of 58-point-36 percent.

With the combined duties 64-point-68 percent this works out as highest among the affected companies.

The comparable figure for Brazil was 46-point-52 percent, 25-point-56 percent for Britain and 17-point-60 percent for India.

A source in Washington said that POSCO could file an appeal as it was slapped with an abnormally high countervailing duty.
