S. Korea to Deploy Precision-Guided Weapon at Western Sea Border

South Korea will reportedly deploy precision-guided missiles next year at the Marine Corps stationed on northwestern border islands in the Yellow Sea to counter North Korea’s air cushion vehicles.

The 70-millimeter guided missile, developed by local defense company LIG Nex 1 under the auspices of the state-run Agency for Defense Development(ADD), was produced to counter possible infiltration by the North’s air cushion vehicles.

The weapon is known to have great mobility as it is mounted on vehicles unlike existing artillery deployed at coastal areas. It can fire up to 40 rounds from two launchers mounted on a vehicle.

The guided weapon will replace the Marine Corps’ outdated artillery on the northwestern border islands.
