S. Korea to Pour 15.3 Trillion Won on Future Growth Engines

The government will pour 15-point-three trillion won into the country’s future growth engines next year, up seven-point-six percent from this year.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Thursday jointly announced next year’s budget for creating the country’s future growth engines.

Seven-point-six trillion won of the budget will be spent to strengthen the foundation of future growth engine industries, while seven-point-seven trillion won will go to supporting efforts to create future growth engines.

The government will provide intensive support for ten areas next year including smart cars, the Internet of Things and drones, while investing one-point-three trillion won in efforts to speed up the progress in 19 future growth engines.
