The central and local governments are teaming up with the auto and gas industries to promote hydrogen cars in Korea.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a ceremony in Seoul on Wednesday, marking the launch of the “hydrogen convergence alliance.”
The government-private sector organization will act as a control tower to manage the supply and expansion of hydrogen vehicles and the promotion of hydrogen energy.
It will include the trade, energy and environment ministries as well as the local governments of Ulsan, Gwangju, and South Chungcheong Province, among others.
From the private sector, makers of hydrogen cars and parts as well gas firms and hydrogen manufacturers and distributors will participate.
Last month, the trade ministry unveiled plans to supply ten-thousand hydrogen vehicles and build 100 charging stations across the country by 2020.
