Kyodo: Japan to Protest N. Korean SLBM Launch

In the wake of North Korea’s submarine-launched ballistic missile(SLBM) launch on Wednesday, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was said to have ordered the Ministry of Defense to thoroughly collect and analyze related information.

Japan’s Kyodo News said that Abe also requested them to check the safety of Japanese airplanes and ships against North Korean missiles, and enhance their readiness for unpredictable situations.

Tokyo announced on Wednesday that the North appears to have launched n SLBM toward the East Sea early in the day, adding it will strongly protest Pyongyang for its violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

According to Kyodo, damage to Japanese planes and vessels as a result of the North’s latest missile launch has yet to be reported.
