The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) closed the week higher, setting another high for the year.

The main index on Friday edged up zero-point-77 points, or zero-point-04 percent, higher to two-thousand-56-point-24. 

Shares of Samsung Electronics also set a fresh new high closing Friday at one-point-675 million won, higher than Thursday's all-time high of one-point-64 million won.

Thanks to the favorable corporate earnings, the Friday closing price exceeded the one-point-64 million won Samsung shares posted during Thursday's trading.

The secondary tech-heavy KOSDAQ, meanwhile, shed zero-point-73 points, or zero-point-10 percent, to close at 696-point-20.
