N. Korea Stresses Reunification on Anniversary of Liberation

North Korea called on the South to open a major path for reunification and stressed loyalty to its leader Kim Jong-un on the 71st anniversary of Korea's liberation on Monday.

In a page one editorial, the North’s Nodong Sinmun said reunification is the most urgent and vital task that should be achieved by the two Koreas. It said all Koreans should break down the barriers of division and open a major path for reunification.

Propaganda Web site DPRK Today said the South Korean authorities are rejecting the North's sincere offer for dialogue while stepping up military and political provocations by conspiring with foreign powers. It said that as a result, mistrust and competition between the South and North have escalated and the situation on the Korean Peninsula is extremely precarious.
