Biz Community Welcomes Special Pardons

The nation's business community has welcomed the government's special pardons granted to over 48-hundred people, including business figures ahead of Independence Day.

The Federation of Korean Industries(FKI) issued a statement just after the government announced the pardon list on Friday and expressed hope the amnesties can help revitalize the sluggish economy.

In the statement, the federation welcomed the government granting the opportunity for businesspeople to return to their jobs on the occasion of Independence Day on Monday.

The FKI said that as the pardons are aimed at overcoming economic woes and mustering the power of the people, the business community will also do its best to advance the national economy.

It vowed to carry out aggressive investments and create a large number of jobs to revive the economy and also exert efforts to gain trust from the public.

The pardons were granted to four-thousand-876 convicted inmates including 14 high-profile businessmen such as CJ Group Chairman Lee Jay-hyun, who is in poor health.
