OECD: S. Korea's Employment Rate Remains Unchanged

Recent data shows that the job market in South Korea has remained unchanged from late last year, while other advanced countries saw modest growth.

According to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD) data cited by the Korea Institute of Public Finance on Tuesday, the average employment rate of OECD member states came to 66-point-eight percent in the first quarter, up by zero-point-three percentage points from the previous quarter.

South Korea’s employment rate stood still at 65-point-nine percent.

Local analysts raised the possibility that the country will see higher employment risks in the second half of the year, pointing to its lower-than-average employment rate as well as ongoing corporate restructuring for ailing industries.
