Three to four South Koreans with financial backgrounds are known to have applied for a senior position at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank(AIIB).
A ranking government official in Seoul said Saturday, however, that the information does not come directly from the AIIB as the bank did not make an official notice regarding the matter.
Through Friday, the China-led regional bank posted job vacancy announcements for the spot of vice president and chief financial officer. It also said it was recruiting three director-level posts for finance, accounting and risk management.
The official said that Seoul will work to have at least one South Korean appointed.
When former Vice President and Chief Risk Officer Hong Ky-ttack took a leave last month, the bank demoted his post and created a new position of chief financial officer.
