Manufacturers' Business Sentiment Rises 1st Time in 3 Months

South Korean manufacturers' business sentiment rose for the first time in three months.

According to the Bank of Korea(BOK)’s monthly business survey index(BSI) revealed Friday, the BSI among local manufacturers stood at 72 for July, up one point on-month.

The manufacturers’ sentiment jumped from 68 in March to 71 in April and maintained the level for the two ensuing months.

The BSI measures corporate confidence and a figure of more than 100 means optimists outnumber pessimists.

The central bank said the uptick in the manufacturers’ sentiment reflects the eased anxiety about the negative ramifications of Britain’s decision to leave the European Union(EU).

However, the expected manufacturers’ BSI for next month is 71, down by one point from July's figure.
