South Koreans ranked lowest in social network support among 36 countries.
According to the National Assembly Research Service’s analysis of the social cohesion indicators of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), South Korea scored zero-point-two out of ten in social network support or social relations.
The category assesses the level of social network support based on the ratio of people responding positively to a question asking if they have someone to rely on in time of need.
In South Korea, 72-point-four percent of people gave positive responses, the lowest among 34 OECD nations plus Brazil and Russia. The figure is 15-point-six percentage points lower than the average 88 percent of the surveyed nations.
Switzerland ranked first with 95-point-eight percent, followed by Denmark at 95 percent, Germany at 93-point-six percent, Australia at 92 percent, the United States at 90 percent and Japan at 88-point-five percent.
