Unionized workers at Hyundai Motor and Hyundai Heavy Industries continued their partial strikes on Wednesday, strengthening the level of their action and holding a joint rally.
On the second day of their walkout, the union of Hyundai Motor said Wednesday that 15-thousand workers on morning shift walked off the job for four hours from 11:30 a.m. Thirteen-thousand afternoon workers carried out their regular shifts, however, they plan to walk out on Thursday for four hours.
Hyundai Motor estimated damages from lost production at about 39 billion won due to the partial strike.
Employees at Hyundai Heavy Industries also launched a partial strike from 1:00 p.m., but operations at the shipyard reportedly proceeded without significant disruptions as only ten percent of about 15-thousand unionized workers participated in the walkout.
