Western and Southern Regions under Heat Wave Advisories

Heat wave advisories have been issued in most of the western and southwestern inland regions of the Korean Peninsula, including the Seoul Metropolitan area.

The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) issued the advisories at 11 a.m. on Wednesday over cities and counties in Gyeonggi, North and South Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces, as well as Wonju, Gangwon Province.

The KMA said that the cited regions will record daytime highs of around 33 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The weather agency predicted the mercury will drop by one or two degrees for the next day.

A heat wave advisory is issued when the midday temperature is forecast to reach 33 degrees or higher for two consecutive days.

The KMA already issued a heat wave advisory in some cities in Gyeonggi on Tuesday, including Uiwang, Hanam, Icheon and Yeoju.

The KMA is advising citizens in the affected regions to avoid outdoor activities and stay hydrated.
