The European Union(EU) has denounced North Korea’s latest ballistic missile launches, calling them a “clear and grave violation” of the international obligation stipulated under the UN Security Council resolutions.
In a statement released on Tuesday, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said the North’s test-firing of three missiles earlier in the day will heighten tensions on the Korean Peninsula and undermine the peace and security of the wider region.
She called on the North to realize that the only path toward peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula is for the regime to give up its ballistic missiles, nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction completely, verifiably and irreversibly.
The North fired three ballistic missiles from its east coast on Tuesday morning, sending two of them as far as 600 kilometers toward the East Sea.
