The U.S. government has strongly condemned North Korea’s launch of three missiles on Tuesday.
Pentagon Spokesman Commander Gary Ross said the U.S. strongly condemns Tuesday’s and North Korea's other recent missile tests, which violate UN Security Council Resolutions.
Ross said the U.S. plans to raise its concerns at the UN to strengthen international resolve in holding the North accountable for such provocative actions.
The U.S. Strategic Command said it presumes that two of the three missiles launched were Scud tactical ballistic missiles and the third was a Nodong intermediate-range ballistic missile.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS) said the North launched three ballistic missiles toward the East Sea from Hwangju in North Hwanghae Province between 5:45 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. The JCS said two of the missiles flew between 500 and 600 kilometers, a distance far enough to strike all of South Korea, including the southern port city of Busan.
