North Korea was confirmed to have developed a small unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) aimed at avoiding South Korean military’s radar systems.
The North’s state-run Korean Central Television recently unveiled a one-meter-long UAV in a clip of a documentary film that was not shown to outside observers before.
The film, which dates back to August 2013, features an inspection of North Korean military’s science and technology hall by leader Kim Jong-un.
It also showed North Korean soldiers flying the new UAV via remote control as Kim looked on.
The small UAV had a small camera in its head and was being remotely maneuvered by the soldiers in front of a large car armed with a giant antenna.
The new UAV is only a third in size of the North Korean drones that crashed on the Baengnyeong Island and Paju in 2014.
Given the UAV was already complete three years ago, South Korean military experts presumed that Pyongyang has already succeeded a mass production of the small drones and deployed them to the front lines.
