US Slaps Antidumping Duties on S. Korean Steel Pipes

The U.S. Department of Commerce has imposed antidumping duties worth a maximum three-point-82 percent on South Korean steel products known as heavy walled rectangular welded carbon steel pipes and tubes.

According to the Washington branch of the Korea International Trade Association, the Commerce Department on Thursday issued the ruling of slapping antidumping duties between two-point-34 and three-point-82 percent in a lawsuit filed against South Korean steel pipes and tubes.

The department has investigated the case since July last year together with the U.S. International Trade Commission, following the lawsuit filed by American steelmakers including Atlas Tube.

The export volume of these particular steel pipes and tubes is not very large, posting shipments worth about 42-million dollars to the United States last year.
