Radio Free Asia(RFA) reports that North Korea's population is about 25 million, the 51st largest among 238 countries around the world.
Citing recent data from the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, the U.S. international broadcaster said the North’ population is estimated at 24-point-98 million this year, up some 100-thousand from last year. The growth rate was the 157th highest among the countries surveyed.
RFA said that in North Korea, the number of emigrants is four times more than that of immigrants.
North Korea came in 134th place in terms of the birthrate, which stands at one-point-45 percent. The country's mortality rate was the 64th highest at zero-point-nine percent.
By age, those between 25 and 54 account for the largest portion of the North Korean population at 44 percent. Infants and children who are 14 or younger form the second largest bracket, while the third largest group consists of people aged between 15 and 24. Those aged 65 or older represent nearly ten percent of the North’s population.
RFA reported that the life expectancy for North Koreans stands at 70-point-11 years this year, remaining on an upward slope.
