The government's tax revenue increased 19 trillion won on year during the January to May period.
The Ministry of Strategy and Finance said in its July fiscal trend report on Tuesday that tax revenue came to 112-point-seven trillion won from January to May, up from 93-point-seven trillion won a year ago.
The ratio of actual tax collected versus the government's target was 50-point-six percent, up seven-point-two percentage points from a year ago.
Tax revenue increased despite the weak economy due to the property market boom as well as improved sales by corporations at the end of last year, which took time to be reflected.
Income tax rose five-point-six trillion won to 30-point-two trillion won on the back of an increase in real estate transactions and a rise in nominal wages.
Corporate tax increased five-point-five trillion won to 27-point-one trillion won.
