N. Korea Meets Asian Ambassadors to Criticize US

North Korea has blamed the U.S. for worsening situations on the Korean Peninsula during a meeting with diplomatic emissaries of other Asian countries.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) said on Tuesday that Pyongyang's Foreign Ministry recently organized an information-sharing meeting among the representatives of Asian nations staying in Pyongyang.

During the gathering, the ministry's Asian and Oceanian bureau director Choe Hee-chol criticized the recent U.S. announcement to sanction North Korea for human rights abuses, saying it is the worst hostile act towards his country and a declaration of war.

Choe stressed that every Asian country should know who is most responsible for plunging the Korean Peninsula into chaos, calling on the Asian countries represented by the attendees not to join the activities aimed at harming the peace and security of the region.

The KCNA claimed that the participants expressed deep understanding that the U.S. hostile policies toward North Korea was creating extreme tension on the peninsula.

According to the KCNA, the meeting was attended by the ambassadors of Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, India, and Vietnam, along with acting ambassador of Pakistan.

Last Wednesday, the U.S. Treasury Department announced the sanctions against North Korea based upon the State Department’s report on the human rights situations in the North.

Under the sanctions, 15 North Korean top officials, including its supreme leader Kim Jong-un, as well as eight North Korean entities, had their assets in the U.S. frozen and business transactions with Americans prohibited.
