The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) ended in positive territory on the first day of the week's trading on Monday, boosted by foreign and institutional buying.

At the close, the main index shot up 25-point-44 points, or one-point-three percent, to close at one-thousand-988-point-54.
 
The tech-heavy KOSDAQ climbed four-point-65 points, or zero-point-67 percent, to 697-point-25.
 
On the foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency strengthened 15-point-one won against the greenback to one-thousand-146-point-seven won.
