Researchers in South Korea and Russia are in the process of completing a new nanotechnology that can help detect cancer at an early stage.
South Korea's Pohang University of Science and Technology(Postech) and Russia's Moscow Engineering Physics Institute(MEPhI) said Friday that their researchers were in the final stages of developing the technology capable of finding cancer cells.
Professor Igor Nabiev at the Russian institute said that fluorescent nanoparticles can penetrate deep into transparent body tissues and therefore are able to identify cancer cells situated anywhere in the body.
The professor said that applications of the technology are also expected to help to diagnose diseases linked to infections, inflammations and the immune system.
