KOSPI Plunges on Renewed Brexit Concerns

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) was drastically lower at the close on Wednesday mostly due to foreign selling that was sparked by renewed fears over Brexit.

After the main index recovered all of the ground lost after the Brexit referendum last month, it plummeted 36-point-73 points, or one-point-85 percent, to close at one-thousand-953-point-12.

The secondary KOSDAQ also fell seven-point-22 points, or one-point-04 percent, to 685-point-51.

On the foreign exchange market, the local currency slid for the third straight session, depreciating ten-point-two won against the U.S. dollar to one-thousand-165-point-six won.
