Central Region under Heavy Rain Advisory

Rain advisories and warnings were issued for many parts of the central region of the Korean Peninsula on Tuesday as heavy precipitation continued from a day earlier.

The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) said as the North Pacific anticyclone expanded, a monsoon front hung over North Korea in the morning, scattering heavy rain onto the northern parts of the Gyeonggi and Gangwon regions.

Up to 150 millimeters of precipitation are expected in some parts of the central region by Wednesday, while other areas will receive 50 to 100 millimeters. The southern region will get ten to 40 millimeters of rainfall by Wednesday.

On Thursday, heavy rain will again hit the central region and North Gyeongsang Province.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Nepartak is moving upward towards Shanghai, raising the possibility that South Korea will be continuously influenced by rain until early or mid next week.
