Heavy rains pounded the southern port city of Busan early Monday morning, suspending traffic in some downtown areas.
According to the Busan branch of the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) on Monday, 95 millimeters poured down in Yeongdo County for six hours through 6 a.m. Monday.
The administration issued a heavy rain advisory in Busan at 2:50 a.m. Monday.
The seasonal rain front, accompanied by heavy rain clouds, is moving northward.
As of 6 a.m. Monday, the KMA issued heavy rain advisories for Busan, Ulsan and Chungcheong areas, while issuing preliminary advisories for the Seoul metropolitan area, as well as Gangwon and Jeolla Provinces.
On Monday, around 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall will be observed in central region, North Jeolla Province and the northern parts of North Gyeongsang Province. Some areas in the central region will have more than 200 millimeters of precipitation during the day.
As for South Jeolla, South Gyeongsang and southern parts of North Gyeongsang, 30 to 80 millimeters of rain is expected on Monday.
The wet system will continue until Thursday, while the monsoonal front will continue in the southern regions during the weekend.
