S. Korea Tops World Internet Speed Rankings

South Korea has again come out on top of a list of global Internet speed rankings, maintaining the spot for nine consecutive quarters.

Content delivery network(CDN) services provider Akamai Korea said in a report Friday that South Korea in this year's first quarter maintained an average Internet speed of 29 Mbps, or almost five times faster than the global average of six-point-three Mbps.

The Internet access speed in the first quarter in South Korea is 12 percent faster than the quarter before and 23 percent faster than the same time last year.

Second on the list was Britain with 27-point-nine Mbps followed by Belgium and Norway. Japan and China ranked 17th and 37th respectively with each recording less than ten Mbps.
