The city of Seoul was the third most popular destination for international conferences in the world last year.
 
Seoul City said on Tuesday that it ranked third in terms of hosting international gatherings as 494 meetings were held in the South Korean capital last year. The ranking by the Union of International Associations(UIA) was up two notches from the previous year. 

Singapore topped the list of host locations with 736 meetings while Brussels ranked second with 665 meetings. Paris and Vienna placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Among South Korean cities, Busan came in the eleventh spot as the host of 150 gatherings while Jeju Island placed 19th on the list with 112 meetings.

In rankings of countries, South Korea came in second, serving as host to a total of 891 meetings.
