Parties Voice Concern on Repercussions of Brexit

Rival parties have voiced concern in unison over Britain's decision to part ways with the EU and called for all-out government efforts to minimize any effect on the domestic economy.

Ruling Saenuri Party Spokeswoman Kim Hyun-ah said in a Friday briefing that Brexit is expected to have major repercussions on the global economy and global politics.

She said that related authorities must figure out detailed measures in order to stabilize the market and thoroughly prepare for global financial market moves apart from the Brexit such as a possible U.S. interest rate hike.

Floor Spokesman of the main opposition Minjoo Party of Korea Ki Dong-min also expressed concern on the South Korean economy in a written briefing and urged the government to focus on eliminating market uncertainties.

Minor opposition People's Party Spokesman Son Kum-ju also said that the task at hand is to draft a step-by-step scenario to thoroughly prepare for any impact of the Brexit decision on South Korea's finance and economy.
