Park: N. Korea to Face Isolation, Self-destruction

President Park Geun-hye has warned that North Korea will face isolation and self-destruction if it continues to push ahead with additional nuclear testing.

The president made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with members of the National Unification Advisory Council at the presidential office.

She said that South Korea and the international community will respond with stronger measures if the North continues developing nuclear weapons.

Park said with close cooperation with the international community, the government is working to create an atmosphere in which North Korea will realize it has no choice but to abandon its nuclear ambitions and embrace change.

The president said that the development of nuclear weapons and long-range missiles are grave provocations that threaten peace on the Korean Peninsula as well as in Northeast Asia and the rest of the world.

She stressed that as long as the North continues to make provocations, no international organization will seek normal relations with the North or provide help.
