KMA: 1 Typhoon Will Affect Korean Peninsula This Summer

Not a single typhoon has yet been observed in the Northwest Pacific Basin this year.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said Wednesday that the absence of typhoons this summer is attributed to a higher water temperature in the region.

The weather agency predicted that the Korean Peninsula will be affected by only one of seven to ten typhoons which are forecast to develop in the Northwest Pacific Basin between June and September this year.

In previous years, some eleven typhoons developed in the area and of them, two-point-two had an influence on the peninsula.
