Prosecutors Seek Arrest Warrant for Volkswagen Korea Executive

Prosecutors investigating Volkswagen’s emissions-rigging scandal have requested an arrest warrant for an executive of the local unit of the German carmaker.

The prosecution on Tuesday announced its move, seeking to arrest the executive, identified as Yoon, for his alleged involvement in fabricating some 40 reports on the VW vehicles' noise levels and around 90 reports on emissions test results between August 2010 and February 2015 for import approvals.

Investigators also suspect that Yoon manipulated electronic control software for the Golf one-point-four TSI after the model failed to pass emission tests in July 2014.

Yoon, who has undergone investigation since last Monday, is said to have told prosecutors that the rigging of the Golf model software and sale of problematic vehicles were carried out on orders from the carmaker’s headquarters in Germany.
