More than two trillion won have been deposited into individual savings accounts(ISAs) since such accounts were made available three months ago on March 14th.

The Financial Services Commission(FSC) said on Wednesday that over two-point-two million ISAs were opened with the deposited amount reaching two trillion and 60 billion won as of last Friday, which marks the 13th week since the ISAs were introduced.

About ten percent of the 22-point-two million people eligible to open ISAs created the accounts, with the ratio of those who created them to the total population reaching four-point-three percent.

ISAs allow various savings and investment products to be attached to a single account. The account offers tax exemptions of up to two million won on profits.
