The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) fell as uncertainties linger on what the U.S. Federal Reserve will decide to do with interest rates at its meeting that ends Wednesday, local time.

South Korea's main index on Wednesday slipped three-point-two points, or zero-point-16 percent, closing at one-thousand-968-point-83.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ, on the other hand, advanced one-point-72 points, or zero-point-25 percent, to 694-point-66.

On the foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency remained nearly flat against the U.S. dollar at one-thousand-173-point-three won.
