The European Union is seeking to further boost business cooperation with South Korea.
EU Ambassador to South Korea Gerhard Sabathil announced the plan at a news conference in Seoul on Wednesday.
Under the “EU Gateway to Korea” program, a business delegation will be tasked with missions to help European companies establish long-lasting business collaborations in South Korea.
The delegation will be made up of companies from 28 EU member countries in five new industries—green energy; health care and medicine; environment and water technologies; construction and building; and organic food and beverages. The delegation will make 20 visits to South Korea over a period of five years starting this year.
Sabathil said that the delegation will focus on the new industries, which are expected to offer good business opportunities both to European companies and their South Korean partners. He added that the delegation will have up to 50 members selected by strict standards.
