The nation’s top three shipbuilders have finalized self-rescue plans worth a total ten-point-three trillion won for restructuring.
According to an industrial and corporate restructuring plan that the government unveiled on Wednesday, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering came up with a self-rescue plan worth five-point-three trillion won. Under the plan, the firm will reduce the number of its dockyards from seven to five and sell off all of its 14 subsidiaries.
The shipbuilder also plans to transform its special ships department into a subsidiary and sell some of its shares by attracting strategic investors.
Hyundai Heavy Industries, on its part, devised a self-rescue plan worth three-and-a-half billion won. The plan centers on selling three financial companies and cutting personnel.
Samsung Heavy Industries plans to secure one-and-a-half trillion won by disposing non-core assets and surplus production facilities.
