Returning from the three-day weekend, the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) rallied on Tuesday, mostly due to U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's recent reassuring remarks on the strength of the U.S. economy.

The main index shot up 25-point-79 points, or one-point-three percent, to close at two-thousand-eleven-point-63.

The secondary KOSDAQ jumped three-point-34 points, or zero-point-48 percent, to 704-point-77.

On the foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency strengthened 20-point-nine won against the greenback to one-thousand-162-point-seven won.
