S. Korea's Imports of Iranian Oil Doubled Following Lifted Sanctions

The amount of Iranian oil that South Korea imported this year was found to be twice that of last year’s imports.

According to the Korea National Oil Corporation on Sunday, South Korea imported a total of 29-point-96 million barrels of oil from Iran between January and April of this year, or after the United States and European Union economic sanctions on Tehran were lifted.

The amount is up 113-and-a-half percent compared to the same period last year.

An oil refiner official predicted that imports of Iranian oil will further expand once transactions with Iran in U.S. dollars become allowed.
