President Park Geun-hye Thursday pledged to deepen cooperation with France on startups and other creative economy areas.
In a keynote speech at the South Korea-France Business Forum at a Paris hotel, Park said more details of South Korea-France cooperation on creative economy will be announced after her summit meeting with French President Francois Hollande on Friday.
For years, South Korea and France have discussed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation on the creative economy, with France opening the French Tech Hub in Seoul in March.
They also launched a startup exchange program, in which five startups from each country are assisted in opening a business in each other’s country.
Noting that the two countries can create synergy in Information and Communication Technology and other new industries, Park requested French companies to invest in South Korea’s technology markets, including the Internet of Things, biotechnology and energy.
