S. Korea Posts Current Account Surplus for 50th Straight Month

South Korea recorded a current account surplus in April, extending its longest streak of a current account surplus to 50 straight months.

According to preliminary data announced by the Bank of Korea(BOK) on Wednesday, the nation posted a current account surplus of three-point-37 billion U.S. dollars in April.

South Korea has been posting current account surpluses since March 2012.

However, the latest surplus volume fell as the month's goods account surplus dropped from 12-point-four billion dollars in March to nearly nine-point-six billion dollars, while the service account deficit widened from one billion to one-point-six billion dollars.
