South Korea has condemned North Korea’s ballistic missile launch attempt on Tuesday, warning that Pyongyang will face stronger sanctions and isolation unless it halts its provocations.
At a regular news briefing, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Cho June-hyuck said that the government can never tolerate Pyongyang’s attempt to launch a missile as it was committed in spite of the international community’s repeated warnings against such actions.
The spokesman said that the fired projectile is believed to be a Musudan intermediate-range ballistic missile, however, the relevant information on the exact type of missile has not yet been confirmed.
Cho said that the launch is believed to have ended in failure, adding that defense authorities of South Korea and the U.S. are working to confirm further details of the incident.
He said that the government will consult and discuss response measures with its allies after analyzing the North’s latest launch attempt.
