KT SAT to Launch 2 Satellites This Year Targeting SE Asia

The satellite arm of KT Corporation will take part in a regional communications expo opening Tuesday to promote South Korea's Mugungwha-5 and 7 satellites which are slated for liftoff at the end of this year.

At the CommunicAsia 2016 under way in Singapore, KT SAT, an affiliate of KT, will promote the global coverage and the maritime VSAT(very small aperture terminal) service of South Korea's next line of satellites and also conduct marketing activities.

Once the Mugunghwa satellites are launched, KT SAT will own global coverage spanning all of the Middle East as well as Southeast and Northeast Asia.

The company will especially focus on marketing in Indonesia and the Indochina region as the area is expected to post high annual average growth in the seven percent range in the satellite market through 2023.

KT SAT said it will host an Indonesia Night event during the expo to increase contacts with key clients of the emerging market. Company CEO Shin Kyu-shik has said that with the new satellite launches, his company will boast global coverage beneficial to the Indonesian and Indochina regions. He said his firm will become a leading global satellite operator based on 40 years experience on satellite control.

The CommunicAsia 2016 will run for four days through Friday and is the largest broadcasting and communications exposition in the Asia-Pacific.
