South Korea’s main stock market will extend trading hours by 30 minutes starting August first, with the closing time extended from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Korea Exchange(KRX) on Tuesday announced the 30-minute extension of the trading hours for securities, derivatives and gold markets.
With the decision, the regular session for the securities market will go from the current six hours to six-and-a-half hours between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The regular session for the derivatives market will be increased from six hours 15 minutes to six hours 45 minutes between 9 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.
However, the KRX decided to reduce the after-hours trading by 30 minutes to maintain the closing time of the market at 6 p.m.
The after-hours trading session will be reduced from two hours 50 minutes to two hours 20 minutes from 3:40 p.m. to 6 p.m.
