'More N. Korean Restaurant Employees Escape for Possible Defection'

A group of North Korean restaurant employees in China has reportedly escaped their workplace for possible defection to South Korea.

A source familiar with North Korean affairs said on Monday that an unknown number of North Korean staff at a restaurant in China recently escaped and traveled to a third country in Southeast Asia in order to defect to the South.

The exact number of North Koreans is unknown, but it is said to be around two to three.

The North Koreans are known to have fled the restaurant in China following the North’s seventh Party Congress, which ended on May ninth.

South Korea’s intelligence authorities say they are trying to confirm the reported escape.
