Survey: 94% of S. Koreans Believe Economic Structure Inclined Toward Conglomerates

A new survey finds that most South Koreans believe that the current economic structure is formed in the way of being favorable towards large-sized companies.

The survey was carried out by the Korea Federation of Small-and Mid-sized Enterprises on 700 adults between April 8 and 15.

According to the survey, 94-point-four percent of respondents believed that the nation’s economic structure is inclined toward conglomerates.

On whether they believe that large companies and small businesses saw balanced growth and development along with the nation’s economic growth, roughly 70 percent said no.

On reasons such balanced growth was not seen, a little over 42 percent blamed conglomerates’ unfair conduct and around 40 percent cited the government’s growth policies centered on large businesses.

Respondents in their 20s and 30s pointed at government policies while respondents in their 40s and 50s cited conglomerates’ unfair actions.
