Hybrid Car Sales Hit All-time High in April

Sales of hybrid cars in South Korea hit an all-time high last month amid growing public interest in eco-friendly vehicles.

According to data by the Korean Automobile Manufacturers Association(KAMA), sales of hybrid cars reached seven-thousand-454 units in April. Of the total, about six-thousand cars were local brands, while about 14-hundred were imported vehicles.

The monthly figure topped the seven-thousand mark for the first time.

Kia Motors’ Niro hybrid SUV led the surge, with its sales posting two-thousand-440 units last month.

Despite a prolonged period of low oil prices, many new models will likely be launched as the domestic hybrid car market is seeing fast growth.
