N. Korean Party Promotes Kim to "Highest Position"

North Korea's Workers Party of Korea(WPK) has decided to promote its young leader Kim Jong-un to the "highest leadership position" at its seventh congress under way in Pyongyang.

The North’s Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) and other state media reported on Monday that the ruling party adopted a concluding report that officially raises Kim's level and recognizes the country as a nuclear state.

Without specifically elaborating on what the highest position entails, the WPK document stated that the "Great Leader" Kim Il-sung and "Outstanding Leader" Kim Jong-il 's revolution will be succeeded by the "highest leader of the party, nation and the military," Kim Jong-un.

The report also said that the party would work to “fundamentally end” the potential dangers of a U.S. nuclear war with “nuclear deterrents.”
